Competitions
Irish dance is as much sport as art and cultural expression. Dancers are never required to compete, but are encouraged to participate in local competion to receive recognition for there effort and useful feedback on how to improve. Most of all, a feis (FESH, pl. feiseanna, FESH-ana), is an
opportunity to celebrate Irish dance, music and culture with an extended Irish dance 'ohana.
A list of feiseanna on the mainland sanctioned by the North American Feis Commission may be found here.
Information regarding qualifying events for the World Irish Dance Championships, held each year over Easter week, may be found here.
